Debra Jayn Dyess 1955-2016

Debra Jayn Dyess 61 of Elba, AL departed this life Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Elba Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Elba, Alabama. Funeral services will be held from Hayes Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Donnie Marler officiating. Committal services will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be at Hayes Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

Survivors include: Sister – Sara Sharpless, Elba, AL, Brother – Harold Dyess, Elba, AL, Sister-in-law – Mary Dyess, Elba, AL, Sister-in-law – Jesse Dyess, Jacksonville, FL. Ms. Dyess was preceded in death by her parents Mabel and Albert Dyess, a Brother – Joe Tom Dyess.

Doris Wynene (Sauls) Dyess 1934-2016

On Sunday, December 18, 2016, Mrs. Doris Wynene Dyess, age 82 of Opp, AL was peacefully touched by the embracing arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Wynene’s life was busy as the organist and adult Sunday School teacher at Country Cathedral Church. She was also co-owner, along with her husband, of Dyess Music Center in Opp, AL. Her many talents included: cooking, songwriting, singing, piano playing and teaching. Ministry was her life as she traveled and sang with the “Singing Dyess Family”.

Wynene is survived by her precious husband, Rev. Charles H. Dyess; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Lance K. Dyess and the “Honorable” Gloria P. Dyess; son, Kerry Dyess; daughters, Kathy Dyess Dowling and LaFrieda Dyess Bradshaw; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Watson-Jackson and Luther; sister, Sara Jacobsen Jones; 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, “Architect” Jim Dowling.

Wyatt Funeral Home of Opp, AL will be conducting a private burial for Wynene. The Dyess Family will be conducting a memorial service for Wynene at 1:30 P.M. Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Country Cathedral Church in Opp, AL with Rev. Flint Harrelson and Rev. Michael Bush officiating. The family will have a reception for friends following the service at the church. Flowers will be accepted or memorials can be made to Country Cathedral Benevolence Fund.

Araceli Soledad Hernandez 2007-2017

Araceli Soledad Hernandez, 10 years old passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 after a short, but brave battle with brain cancer. She is survived by her beloved parents, Jimmy and Rachael; three loving brothers Diego, Joaquin and Isaac; her cherished grandparents Ramiro and Lourdes Hernandez and Juan and Mary Zamora, many dear aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends and classmates from Mt. Greenwood Elementary School where she excelled in all her classes. Araceli had a true passion for the arts and enjoyed listening to music. For her, reading was a never-ending adventure. Araceli could often be found reading and had a love of biographies and historical fiction. May the memories of Araceli, never be forgotten but always cherished for her strong thirst for knowledge. Araceli, will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Araceli Soledad Hernandez, daughter of Rachael Zamora and Jimmy Hernandez, was born about 2007 and passed away 21 Feb 2017.

Leroy Dyess 1899-1966

Leroy Dyess, 66, who had resided at Route 1, Moss, for 20 years and was a native of Wayne County, died Monday in a Jackson hospital after a long illness.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 2 p.m. from Memory Chapel, with burial in Sharon Cemetery.

The Rev. A.R. Vaughn will officiate.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ruby Adams Dyess, Route 1, Moss; three sons, Robert Dyess, Linwood; Thomas D. Dyess, Laurel; Louis L. Dyess, Ft. Know, Ky.; eight grandchildren; six sisters, Mrs. Ruby Rivers, Pascagoula; Mrs. Bessie Bullock, Route 3, Laurel; Mrs. Lillan Branning, Yazoo. City; Mrs. Ethel McCormick, Baltimore, Md.; Mrs. Lydia Crabtree, Route 1, Moss; Mrs. Katie Mozingo, Jackson: four brothers, Cecil Dyess, Moss; Frank Dyess, Pascagoula; Lamar Dyess, Ellisville; Ernie Dyess of New Mexico.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Fester Welborn, Don Welborn, Dickie Welborn, Randolph Adams, Robert Adams and Wallace Ulmer.
