Perry Jackson “Jack” Murray 1935-2003

Jack Murray, 69, Blackmon Road, Yulee, passed away Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Jacksonville. A native of Axson County, Ga., he was the son of the late Walter Scott Murray and Fannie Crews Murray, and had lived in Nassau County since 1980, when he relocated from Atlanta, Ga. Mr. Murray was retired from his position as a meat cutter for the Colonial Stores chain of Georgia. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was a Christian, and enjoyed fishing in his spare time. Survivors include his children, Mona Lisa (Bill) Ward, Stephen Jackson (Tammy) Murray, Brenda L. Murray, and Jackie (Tony) Vietze, all of Jacksonville, and Holly (Robert) Stanley of Hilliard; one brother, Elmer (Danni) Murray, Yulee; three sisters, Mae Parrish, Yulee, Donna (Fred) Baldwin, Fort Worth, Texas, and Lucy (Jimmy) Stevens, Yulee; eight grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends, and a very close friend and former wife, Peggie Smith. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Home. Interment followed in Hughes Cemetery in Yulee with Military Honors. Mr. Murray’s grandsons: Bryan Vietze, Stephen Vietze, Justin Vietze, Eric Stanley, Matthew Stanley, and nephews – Jeff Colson, Andrew Cook, and W. C. Joiner served as pallbearers.

Ada Mae (Murray) Camp Parrish

Ada M Murray Camp Campbell Parrish, age 87 of Yulee, FL passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family.

Lovingly known as Mae and Granny to her family and friends, she was born in Blackshear, GA. one of seven children born to the late Walter Scott Murray and Fannie Crews Murray. She moved to Yulee at an early age to rear her family and begin working as a cook at the Yulee High School. She later became Cafeteria Manager at Yulee Elementary and Yulee Primary schools. She never let anyone leave hungry because her passion was cooking and she especially enjoyed cooking for her family. She retired after thirty years of service with the Nassau County School System.

Mrs. Parrish lived on Lofton Creek where she spent many days fishing and enjoying the beauty of the creek side. She was a member of Yulee Baptist Church where she was active in the Joy Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Fernandina Chapter #55 of The Order of Eastern Star.

She preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Macie Joiner and Donna Ruth Baldwin, her brothers, Pate Murray, Jack Murray, and Elmer Murray, her daughter Judy M. Cook, her son Rodney M. Camp, her former husband, Robert C. Camp, her husband of twenty years E.C. Campbell, and her husband of 30 years, Robert F. Parrish. Those left to cherish her memory are a sister, Lucy Stevens and Jimmy of Yulee, David Everett Cook and Ollie of Yulee, Robin Cook Crawford of Yulee, Curtis Cook and Dell Saylor of Nassauville, FL. Cheryl Camp Roberts of Yulee, Robert W. Camp and Lea Ann of Yulee. Fourteen Great-Grandchildren, Andrew Hilton,( Kiani) Cook, Renee Lockard, Mark Trotty (Jacey) Pamela Trotty, Adam Lewis (Kristen), Andrew Lewis(Chrystal), Ronald Lowe, Matthew Cook, Danielle Cook, Floyd Cook, Garret VanDorsten, Leslie Roberts, Casey Roberts, and Jacob Camp. Ten Great-Great- Grandchildren as well as countless nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends.

The Family will receive friends at 1030am, Saturday at the Yulee Baptist Church- Services will follow at 1100am- with Reverend Doug Sides, officiating. Mrs. Parrish will be laid to rest in Hughes Cemetery.

Memorials: May be made to the cancer organization of your choice. Donna was born Donna Ruth Murray, Dec. 9, 1932, to Walter Scott Murray and Fanny Crews in Millwood, Ga. She met and married Asa F. Baldwin in Savannah, Ga., on April 26, 1955. She has resided in Benbrook for the past 35 years. Donna had a zest for life and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. The world is a better place for having had her in it. Survivors: Husband of 54 years, Asa Fred Baldwin II; sons, Curtis Carter and Asa Fred Baldwin III; daughters, Linda Ruth McNease, Kathleen Alice Baldwin and Patricia Jean Baldwin; grandsons, Michael Daniels, Shea Baldwin and Jeremy Baldwin-Powers; granddaughter, Desiree’ Baldwin; brother, Elmer Murray; sisters, Mae Parrish, Lucy Stevens and Marion Drent; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Donna Ruth Murray, daughter of Walter Scott Murray and Fannie Crews, born 9 Dec 1932 – Millwood, GA and passed 25 Nov 2009 – Fort Worth, TX.

Carl Edward Norris 1942-2007

Mr. Carl E. “Pee Wee” Norris, 65, of Fort White, Florida died late Thursday evening October 25, 2007 in the Shands at Jacksonville Hospital following a brief illness.

A native and long time resident of Lake City, Mr. Norris had been a resident of Fort White since 1990 having moved there from Orlando, Florida.

Mr. Norris was the son of the late John Frank & Emma Beckham Norris. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Mr. Norris had worked in law enforcement for many years. He had worked with the Lake City Police Department, the Columbia County Sheriffs Office, the Brevard County Sheriffs Office and had been an investigator with the Seminole County State Attorney’s Office. Mr. Norris was a member of the Athens Baptist Church and in his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Mr. Norris was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Norris; two brothers, Johnnie Norris, and Tommy Norris, Sr., and a sister, Linda Norris.

Mr. Norris is survived by his daughter, Lisa Ann Norris of Providence, Florida; two brothers, Windell Norris (Tresca) and Bo Norris; and two sisters, Jerrie Houston (Bobby Jo) and Jean Craig all of Lake City. Three grandchildren, Elise, Kevin & Wade Poteat and a great-grandson, Hayden Anderson also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Norris will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Monday, October 29, 2007 in the chapel of the Dees-Parrish Family Funeral Home with Rev. Windell Norris officiating. Interment will follow in the Siloam United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 – 7:00 Sunday evening.
