Services for Charles W. Stewart will be held on Friday, October 7, 2016, at 10:00 am. in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Alexandria, La., with Reverends Robert McLane, Joseph Franklin, Danny George and Wardell Williams officiating. Other speakers will be Richard Billings, Mac Dyess, and Debby Giles. Music by Joy Beebe Ballance and Reba Beebe Guin. The burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Garden in Kingsville, La. under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria. There will be a Masonic Service at the cemetery.
Charles (Charlie) Stewart, Age 78, of Alexandria, passed away Monday, October 3, 2016, in Houston, Texas.
Visitation will be held at Hixson Brothers in Alexandria on Thursday, October 6, 2016, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm., and on Friday, October 7, 2016 until time of service.
Charlie was born in Houston, Texas on December 29, 1937. He lived most of his life in Central, La. He attended New Hope Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wirt (Pete) Stewart and Juanita Loyd; his brother, Dwight Stewart; and a special aunt, Anita Stewart Kopacz.
He is survived by his wife, Linda (Lin) Dyess Stewart; sons, Kerry Stewart, Kevin Stewart, Michael Stewart and wife Shannon; and Chad Robinson and wife Amanda; step-mother, Peggy Stewart; brother, Keith Stewart; grandchildren, Brittney, Tyler, Emily, Hannah, Garrett, and Taylor Stewart; and Gage and Ashlee Robinson. He is also survived by numerous family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be Richard Billings, Robin Bonnette, Doug Byrd, Mac Dyess, Marc Dyess, Tony Giles, Bruce Johnson, Walter Lafargue, Shane Metesh, Bobby Morris, Ollie Overton, Gage Robinson, David Stewart, Garrett Stewart, Jason Stewart, Gary Taylor, Darrell Vandersypen, and Russell Wilson.
Charlie served two terms in the U.S. Army, serving in the 101st Airborne and Infantry. He was also a member of the U.S. Army Boxing Team.
He served on the Rapides Parish Police Jury, District A. He was a former member of the Home Builder’s Association, the CENLA Community Action Committee (CCAC), Legislative Aide in the Louisiana State Senate, and a Commissioner on the England Airport Authority. He was on the Rapides Parish Sewer Board.
Charlie was a building contractor in Central Louisiana for many years. He also built homes in Houston and Austin, Texas and developed recreation facilities in Katy, Texas. He owned Twin Cities Carpet Store in Pineville, and owned Airport Food Services at AEX Airport.
He was a Mason and a member of the Forest Hill Masonic Lodge No. 254.
In his early adult life, Charlie enjoyed racing stock cars, later his interests included snow skiing, attending NASCAR races, and traveling in his motorhome. Charlie loved his family very much, and was a loyal friend.

Ruby (Mott) Robinson 1937-2016

Ruby Mott Robinson passed away Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Rapides Regional Hospital, Alexandria, La. She was a resident of Tioga Manor Nursing Center of Pineville, La.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Junior Robinson, her parents, John Matthew Mott, Sr. and Callie Eva Thomas Mott, brothers, Herman O. “Tubby” Mott, Conrad Ardell Mott, Hershel Leon Mott, John Matthew Mott, Jr., sisters, Elsie Mott Peters, Faye Mott Scott, Bernice Mott Hagan, daughter, Theresa Jackson Glenn, son, Joey Jackson, and grandson, James Robert Forest.
She leaves behind one son, John Jackson, one daughter, Tammy Robinson Forest, grandsons Daniel Glenn (Kristy) and Kevin Forest, granddaughter, Diana Glenn Holt(Jerry)and sisters, Yvonne Mott Carr and Billie Mott Sermons.

Bobby L Mills 1941-2016

Funeral services for Bobby L. Mills 75, of Esler Field Community will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville with Dr. C. Stewart Holloway of First Baptist Church Pineville officiating. David C. Bates, Jr., his long time Sunday School teacher, will give his eulogy. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park.

Visitation will be at Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, Pineville on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until time of the services.

Bobby was born on June 28, 1941 and died peacefully in his sleep early on the morning of Sunday, October 2, 2016, at his home in the Esler Field Community. He was best known for his 26 years of service to ACE Hardware, both in Pineville, Louisiana and Ball, Louisiana. He loved his job and loved his customers. He was a “people person” and enjoyed visiting with and helping those who frequented these two stores.

Bobby’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were all precious to him. He loved them all dearly and loved to tease them and hear them laugh. His death will leave a void in the lives of each of them but the legacy of love he leaves them is beyond measure.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Elby R. and Florence M. Beavers Mills of the Esler Field Community and his great-grandson, Braxton Lane Thompson of Winnfield, Louisiana.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Perry Mills; son, Carman “Shorty” Mills; step-son, J. W. Maher; grandchildren, Justin Mills, Jamie Thompson, Jennifer Lambert, Dakota Mills, Kelsey Mills, Callie Dunn and Virginia Colclasure; great grandchildren, Ada, Ella, Emma, Dewayne, Gracie, Bailey, and Lane; sisters, Dorothy Mills Murrell and Mildred Montgomery; two ex-daughters-in-law, Marlene Young and Elizabeth “Beth” Mills, who he loved like a daughter; and one uncle, four aunts, and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers honored to serve will be Justin Mills, Randy Browning, Chad Montgomery, DJ Lambert, Perry Ramsey, and Dr. Eddie O’Neal. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Beaver, Jerry Meredith, Jeremy Thompson, William Dunn and his ACE Hardware family.

Mrs. Alvis Dyess Long, 99, of Waynesboro, MS died Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Wayne General Hospital. She was a devoted member of Little Rock Assembly of God Church and member of Philadelphus Women’s Club. She was retired as Office Manager of Dixie Electric. Mrs. Long is preceded in death by her husband, George Long; 6 Brothers & 2 Sisters. She is survived by her sister, Opal Dyess Sanderson of Waynesboro; 3 sisters-in-law, Miriam Dyess of Silas, AL, Mary Dyess of Mobile, AL, Bonnie Jean Dyess of Buckatunna; 24 Nieces and Nephews; Several Great Nieces & Nephews. Ronald Dean Dyes 1944-2016

Ronald was born on December 31, 1944 in Shreveport, LA to JB and Willie Forsong Dyes and passed away on November 7, 2016 in Marthaville, LA.
Ronald was a member of Ajax Lodge # 325, he received a past master 25 years certificate. Ronald worked in foreign oil fields in Libya and Saudi Arabia. Ronald’s hobbies were fishing Black Lake, he is the record holder for Black Lake, he also enjoyed hunting, camping, and 4-wheeler riding with friends and family in the OK mountains. He was a former Board Member for Farm Bureau of Natchitoches Parish and also member of Natchitoches Parish Cattleman’s Association.
Preceding Ronald in death are his parents JB Dyes and Willie Dyes Ott; sister, Marilyn “Peachie” Lewis; father and mother-in-law, Thurman and Marie Middleton.

Kenneth Michael “Mike” DeSoto 1960-2017

Funeral services for Mr. Kenneth “Mike” DeSoto of West Monroe, LA will be 2:00pm Saturday, February 18, 2017 in the chapel of Griffin Funeral Home West Monroe with Bro. Sharp officiating. Interment will follow at Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home West Monroe. Visitation will be from 12:00noon until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. DeSoto was born August 20, 1960 in LeCompte, LA and passed from this life on February 15, 2017 in West Monroe, LA at the age of 56. He was a resident of West Monroe for 30 years, a member of the Baptist faith and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is preceded in death by his “PawPaw”, James Wesley Robinson and his grandmother, Ethel Robinson.

Survivors include the mother of his children, Penny Denise DeSoto Ward; his children, Joshua DeSoto, Michael “Casey” DeSoto, and Christian DeSoto; his grandchildren, Jayme, Jonah, Bentley, Mason and Corbin; his mom, Shirley Carolyn Robinson his dad, Kenneth Clarence DeSoto and step-mother, Suanna; his siblings, James, Pam, Scott, Shannon, Christie and Joseph; also survived by a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services for Oliver Conley Brian, 78, were held Sunday, Jan. 19, at 4 p.m., at Union Baptist Church of Belmont. Rev. Johnny Garrett officiated. Interment followed in the Belmont Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home.

Mr. Brian died Friday, January 17, at Willis Knighton Medical Center in Shreveport.

He is survived by three sons, Olin Dean Dyess, Phillip Brian, and Gilbert Brian, all of Belmont; four grandchildren, Sondra Harrison of Provencal, Karla Williams of Huntsville, Tex., Traci Brian of Bossier City, and Nicholus Brian of Belmont. Barbara Ramirez, 72, of Angleton went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 with her family at her side. She was born to Virgil Dyess & Geraldine Lewis Dyess on July 13, 1943 in Marthaville, Louisiana.

She was a Great wife, mother & grandmother who was loved by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, & a brother.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 21 years Adam Ramirez, children Donny Davis, Brenda Davis Parker (James), Stacie Getgood (David), Shaun Ford (Tessa), Vincent Ramirez (Linda), Tina Battle (Brad) & Adam Ramirez Jr.(Amy), grandchildren 19, and 8 great grandchildren brothers Arlis Dyess (Gwen), Harold Dyess & Gerald Wayne Dyess(Sherri), sister Carolyn Ott (Azel Jr.)
